We'll tell you how well the chic cell phone performs in practice.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro is becoming a perennial favorite
Admittedly, with the abundance of smartphones that Xiaomi launches every year (not to say every quarter), sooner or later you lose track. In addition, a model often appears in several versions. However, the predecessors are by no means old-fashioned. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro from 2020 is still a hot tip, although it was supposedly replaced by the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 – generation twelve is also already in the starting blocks.
Bargains in particular benefit from this, as the cell phone falls below one price mark after the other: while the original 299.90 euros was already a declaration of war on the competition, Xiaomi itself now offers the Redmi Note 9 Pro in the online shop for 249.90 euros. The average price in free trade is around 200 euros. However, Saturn marks the current low point in price at 179 euros – all three colors are available: Glacier White, Interstellar Gray or Tropical Green.

The top of the CHIP leaderboard is dominated by smartphones in the 1,000 euro class. However, if you filter by price up to a maximum of 200 or even just 180 euros, there is no way around Xiaomi. The Redmi Note 9 Pro impressively proves in our test with an overall grade of 2.0 that even in the low-budget area a chic design, a large screen, a fast performance and a long-lasting battery are by no means too much to ask for.
As the key data just mentioned and the "Note" suffix suggest, the smartphone is anything but compact. You should be aware of this – and make sure you have enough space in your trouser or handbag according to the dimensions of around 166 x 77 x 9 millimeters. It also weighs an impressive 209 grams, which is not least due to the 5,020 mAh battery. In return, it achieves a runtime of almost 15 hours, so that even power users can easily get by for a day and a half without a socket. Thanks to the (included) 33-watt power adapter, charging from 0 to 100 percent via USB-C takes just 89 minutes.
Another advantage of the XXL format is the generously dimensioned display. This covers over 80 percent of the entire front and measures 6.67 inches or 16.94 centimeters diagonally, with the 20:9 aspect ratio still allowing one-handed operation. In addition to rich colors and contrasts, the IPS panel impresses with a high image sharpness with a pixel density of 395 ppi. Inside the solid case is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G eight-core processor, which effortlessly masters both everyday tasks and games with the help of six GB of RAM.

Speaking of apps: Android 10 is pre-installed as the operating system, so you have access to the full scope of the Google Play Store as well as Google's language assistant and the Google Pay payment service. Although the in-house software interface MIUI 11 changes the look, the navigation does not raise any questions. There is a fingerprint sensor in the housing frame for biometric unlocking, which also acts as a power button. Meanwhile, the integrated notification LED and the headphone jack are also special features.
The bottom line is that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro for 179 euros is an absolute value for money.
